No.

A beneficiary of a will has no rights to the bequests in a will until it is established as the last act of the testator.

Therefore, unless the testator, assumed to be the parent in this case, chooses to tell the child that they have been left out of the will. They do not need to be told.

A child left out of a will may have rights to the remainder estate under the laws of intestacy.
