Of course you may prepare your own and it may be valid, but because it's not reviewed you won't know if there is a problem until it's too late. You might try preparing your will online through a virtual law firm. The way it works is that you prepare your will online by answering a questionnaire, but unlike legalzoom or some other websites, your will is reviewed for accuracy by an attorney. The costs are comparable to sites like legalzoom. Sources: New York virtual law firm: www.elawyerny.com - Directory of virtual law firms: www.directlawconnect.com

The best choice is to consult with an attorney in your area and have him or her prepare it. If you shop around, you'll find a reasonably priced attorney.
