Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

will

In my mothers will, mom left me a parcel of land in north

carolina, 1/2 acrea. I owe an outstanding student loan.

The house was left to me and my brother in equal shares.

What is going to happen now? Will my brother have to suffer

and loose his share of the house because of me ?

Thanks

Juanita

Re: will

No, your brother's interest cannot be taken from him to pay your loan. At worst, a judgement lien can encumber your half of the house and if the house is sold your share of the proceeds will be used to pay the loan.
