Do you need a will noterized in New York State?

The purpose of having the Will notarized, using a special form, as NY is very particular about the language used, is to simplify the Will's being probated when the maker dies. This is usually referenced to as a "self-proving Will", and does not require that one of the witnesses be present at the time of probate to verify that all requirements of law were met. I strongly suggest that it be notarized, using the proper form, as this will ease the process and could probably save some money as well.
