Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York

I work for a Union Contractor in NYC & got hurt on the job. I lifted something heavy & got a abdominal herina. Filled out all paper work went to Dr & found out I also had a herina in the Groin too. Went to hospital for operation & both were repaired covered under insurance 100%. Was out of work for 8 weeks got paid workers comp based on my earnings. Went back to work I never called to officially close my case was I entitled to any additional monies ?? I do still have pain in the areas due to weather changes or if I overwork my body. All this occurred in 2008.

Based on what you described it sounds as though you have received your proper benefits. There could be an issue of the rate of compensation for the eight weeks if the insurance company did not pay you the maximum amount. However, when hernia cases are involved you get paid for Lost Time and medical. There are no additional awards for pain and suffering or for permanent injury in hernia cases.
