Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

How long after a child turns 18 do I have to still try to get the money owed to me by the absent parent for his share of medical bills that exceeded what insurance paid? Our divorce order states that we each pay 50% of what insurance doesn't cover. He quit even attempting to pay anything towards these bills about 4 years ago. I used to send him copies of the bills and what he owed until they started being returned to me in the mail. He moved and hasn't provided me his new address. He also changed his phone number. If I had to reach him the only way I could is to try through his current employer. He owes me roughly $5,000 dollars at this point, but my daughter turns 18 this June and graduates high school. He hasn't spoken to her in about 4 years, no contact, his choice.
