Legal Question in Disability Law in North Carolina

pregnancy as a discrimination

My doctor placed me on restriction upon my first appt. with her after I became pregnant to not lift over 25 lbs. When I arrived at work, I handed my doctor's written restriction to my boss. After a week of deliberating over the restriction, my boss informed me they could not accomodate me in my job and put me out on unpaid medical leave. However, there are others at my place of employment which have the same, if not more, restrictions due to pregnancy as well. How can they get away with this?

Contact your local Bar Association and find a qualified employment lawyer. Your employer needs a little education as to its obligations under the law.
