I am an american citizen, am I obligated to follow an Italian law here in the US?

If your conduct is in the USA, then Italian law would not generally govern anything you do. If, however, you are conducting some activity in Italy (e.g. selling something there), then you may be subject to their laws. The question is really too vague to give a precise answer, but generally speaking, Italian law would not apply in the US.
