Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

To Whom It Concerns...

My name is Timothy Cole,
I am getting ready to book my flight to Cebu and I have a question. I'm not sure just how long I will be in Cebu but I do know it will be less than 6 months. My question is do I have to book a ( Round Trip ) flight or can I book just one way till I get ready to return back to the States? I was told by Immigration that I could book my flight one way but I wanted to make sure before I did that I wouldn't run into any problems from here to there. I will be leaving from Charlotte, North Carolina. Thank you for your response in this matter.
