Legal Question in Technology Law in North Carolina

Work Computer Passwords

I am an owner of a business and I currently let go one of my employees who I know has not been working for the past 4 months, based on his performance and history of computer files. He has also put many different games on his work computer and has also put an IRC server on my website server. He requests that I allow him in and delete all the cookies and make sure all of his passwords are changed or he threatens to call the Department of Labor. Is this a legitamate request?

Re: Work Computer Passwords

No. Have your sysop (systems operator) or IT/CIO contact get in touch with me if you have proprietary material on his workstation which requires secure access. It is your computer, and non-work programs never should have been allowed onto his computer to begin with.
