Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina

My North Carolina HVAC company was sold to another company in the South Carolina. I had a maintenance contract with them for the last 7 years (out of ten). The new company is totally unknown to me. I could have local companies handle the business if not for

my company selling to them. The new company said they are taking over the business. I don't see why my contract isn't void.

I want to choose who I do business with.

Questions like this are impossible to answer in a general advice forum like this, because we are not permitted to review documents. However, there is likely nothing contained in the maintenance contract that prevents them from transferring it or selling it to another party in the middle of the term. (You should carefully review the existing contract or take it to an attorney directly for a personal review and expect to pay a small fee to the attorney).

You need to write to the new company advising them that you will not be renewing the contract when it expires, and that any prior authorizations to withdraw funds from your bank, credit or debit card are hereby revoked. Finish out the existing term of the contract using the new company - or else pay for local contractors you want, and do not expect to have any expenses you incur be covered by the maintenance agreement because you did not choose to go through them.
