Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

Car Financing

In December i applied for a car loan thru Car Finance.com I was appoved for

up to $16000.00. they sent me a blank check voucher and I was to fill out the amount on it. Since I had a 1998 car i was financing with the same people, I called both Car Finance and NationsBank and asked if i could just pay off my car they both said yes, just put account number on voucher. I did just that, i sent it on Dec 11th and on Jan 4th i received a letter from NationsBank saying my loan was paid in Full and they sent me my Title to the car. I had not heard anything from Car Finance at all, On Jan 29 i received a call from Nationsbank, I called them back I did and could not reach anyone, on feb 5, Nationsbank called saying i was almost 3 months behind in my payments, when would i send them money, i told them as far as i knew the loan was paid off and i have my title, they said the check was returned and i owed back payments, now its feb 5th and this was the first i've heard of this, no calls, no letter etc. my question is do i have any legal recource on this matter, i am angry that no one contacted me to tell me sooner there was a problem and why send me a letter saying it was

paid in full and my original title....please help me

Re: Car Financing

It depends on the documents. But note that carfinance.com IS Nationsbank. You paid off a Nationsbank loan with another Nationsbank loan. So maybe the people who are calling you are the carfinance.com people. In any event, you owe the money, but only once.
