Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

If an officer of the circuit court system delivers legal papers to you to fill out because a credit card turned it over to collection. The papers are called exempt papers What does it mean and should I fiil them out.

Yes you should fill them out within 20 days of being served.

This means that you were sued and have already lost. A judgment has been entered against you. Now the Sheriff can seize your property but you have a chance to fill out exemptions. If you don't have much assets, you may be able to exempt all of them and there won't be anything for the Sheriff to take. It is extremely important that you fill this out and file it with the Clerk of Court. You must also send a copy to the Plaintiff's attorney. Seek help asap if you do not understand.
