Can wages be garnished to settle a repossessed auto debt?

No. There is no wage garnishment in NC for a debt of this type. They can levy on any non-exempt assets though.

PS - in order to levy on assets the creditor would first have to get a judgment and then serve you with papers called a "notice of rights" and "motion to claim exempt property."

I don't know what stage of the process you are at, but if early on, it will be best if you can settle the debt. If you don 't have the funds now, start saving.
