Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

Plea Agreement

In 1999 I had two friends who entered into an ill fated plea agreement. There were in the situation on felony murder. The DA has even told us that he was not in the right by giving them the pleas they got. They were only 18 and the only witnesses or evidence the DA had. They could not afford an attorny and of course their lawyers just wanted to get rid of them. Is there anything we can do now to try to get this overturned? We don't even know where to start. Should we contact their previous appointed lawyer? Is he obligated to help at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, the previous attorney is not the place to start with this kind of issue; you'll need to take it up with new criminal defense counsel, but

I certainly would not get your hopes up as to whether anything mght be done regarding the matter at this late date.
