Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

I have a warrant for my arrest I just found this out. For assault on a female. I don't know what to do. I want to turn myself in but I can't afford to sit in jail for two days until I get bond. Should I turn myself in Monday or wait until Friday. I think in NC there is a 48 hour wait until you see a jug. I have money to post bail and get a good lawyer but don't want to sit in jail for 48 hours.

There is a 'cool off' period for domestic violence cases where you would not be eligible for bond for several days unless a judge orders bond before the cool off period expires. Most judges are very reluctant to set a bond in these cases before the cool off period has expired because there have been instances where the defendant has been released early and then imediately went and killed the alledged victim. I'm not sure if the cool off period applies to an assualt on a female case that is not one of domestic violence. If you have sufficient funds for bond and to retain a lawyer, you should speak to a local experienced criminal attorney before turning yourself in to find out what the bond requirements are and to make arrangements for someone to bail you out. In any event, if you decide to turn yourself in on a weekend you are most likely going to be in jail until the following Mon.
