Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

Writ of Habeas Corpus ad Prosquendum

What does ''Writ of Habeas Corpus ad Prosquendum'' mean? My husband was incarcerated for a previous violation in a different jurisdiction and is unable to appear for his court date. Does this writ have something to do with that? What effect (if any) does this have on the bail to get him out in the county that issued this writ
