Legal Question in DUI Law in North Carolina

My NC DMV hearing officer has requested that I contact the DA to have a 1988 misdemeanor charge dismissed before I can get my DL reinstated. I faxed all information to the DA, then called. I was told that they will not talk to the defendant, only to a lawyer. The code is VL, and the hearing officer says it needs to show to VD to completely dismissed. Is it necessary to hire an attorney to make a phone call?

Thanks,

F. Ratcliff

VL means the district attorney dismissed your case "with leave." which means that the district attorney can reinstate the charges if he finds you. Your case is not resolved. You will need an attorney. Please call us, 919 688-1941.
