Legal Question in DUI Law in North Carolina

route restricted liscence

i'll be living in nc when my trial date comes up on 11/26/07.I understand i can apply for a route restricted liscence in sc. But if i've moved to nc what can i do to have this ruote restricted liscence transferred to nc if at all possible. I'll be enrolloing in isop at cdc in charlotte the week after the trial to meet the requirements for adsap in sc and the probability of a court ordered drug and alcohol program. I have a great job in mgmt been here 3 yrs with an opportunity to advance which will require personal transportation to get to other stores if needed and to transport catering deliveries when necessary. Please advise me of what i will need to do to have this transfer take place and what the costs and time frame might be.

Thank you for any information you can offer.

Sincerely,

Re: route restricted liscence

under the old statute (pre DEc. 06) you could apply for a limited driving privilege here based upon your SC license...i haven't reviewed the new statute to see if any changes, b/c haven't had the issue come up yet...you need to consult with an attorney in your area...i can refer you to a fine lawyer in whatever county you will require a privilege (assuming you can get one)...
