Legal Question in Elder Law in North Carolina

at a court proceeding for a hearing for incompetency, my mother was declared incompetent. her guardian ad litem made me guardian of her person but appointed a lawyer for guaardian of the estate. mother had a power of attorney iin place at that time making me guardian of the estate but it was ignored. how can i get this lawyer out of the picture?

Powers of attorney are rendered moot by guardianship. There must be a reason why you were not named as guardian of the estate as well as guardian of the person. However, the lawyer does not want the job. If you can get bonded or can find someone else who qualifies, then maybe you can persuade the attorney to resign.
