Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Child Support Percentage

What is the percentage for child support? The 23 yr old works in construction @ 12.00 an hr, sometimes he gets 45 hrs & sometimes 20 weekly depending on weather. The baby is 15 days old and the mother or father is NOT married. I would like a mthly amt instead of weekly percentage, is this possible?

Re: Child Support Percentage

It's not a percentage. There is a NC statute that tells you what the child support guidelines are, based on the parents' monthly income and the number of children. Assuming you average 30 hours each week and the mother of your child is not working, you'd have to pay roughly $340 per month under the NC statute. You should consult with the local child support enforcement agency or a local attorney if you need help. A good website with information about Child Support Enforcement is http://www.dhhs.state.nc.us/dss/cse/geninfo.htm

Good luck.
