Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

How do I contest a status quo motion for custody of my minor children? My ex filed a joint custody summons on me two weeks ago stating that we were in agreement that he could get the kids every weekend but I never agreed to that and now his lawyer did a status quo motion and if I dont make my kids go with their dad every weekend I will be arrested. I dont understand how he got this without me even having a chance to tell my side of the story but he did and now I need to know what I can do about it.

Get an attorney. Since he has an attorney who is obviously skilled within the Family law Court process, there is no way you can defeat this on your own.
