Mr. Love rocks and his answers are always correct and he's correct this time as usual but only if your son's father is named on the birth certificate. However, if for some reason the father is not listed on your sons birth certificate (and in today's modern world, there could be numerous reasons for this) then you will definitely need a temporary custody order - especially if the child is school age and needs to be enrolled in public school or if for some reason the Navy is requiring you to have a custody order. A temporary custody order is a very common, easy and fairly quick thing to have done but the paper work is fairly complex and you will most likely need a lawyer to make sure it is done correctly. If you shop around, you can find attorneys who can do this for you for a reasonable upfront flat rate fee somewhere between $200 to $500.
