Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I got married in March 2012 in India and came to NC,USA in April 2012. My husband left me in Dec 2012. I want to file a divorce. I do not expect anything from my husband and just need a divorce peacefully and quickly. Please guide me as on what actions need to be taken and what will be the time frame.

Under North Caolina law you cannot file for divorce until you have been separated for one full year. Therefor you do not need to do anything until that year is up. Then I suggest you hire an attorney.

You could try to enter into a separation agreement if you want to divid property, but if you truly do not want anything, and there are no children, then you just wait out the year.

After the year, you can have an attorney file a complaint for uncontested divorce.
