Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Rights of live-ins in NC

My boyfriend and I have been living together over a year, he didn't want me to work. He now wants me to move out. Does he have the right to just throw me and my son out in the street, we became engaged in Sept. but he is not a stable man and is very vindictive. I need time to find a place of my own.I have not payed rent to him so now he is saying that I am over $900.00 in the hole. That was not our agreement when it started. Please help me. Do I have any right as far as an eviction, everything was a verbal agreement between us.

It would probably require more facts to fully answer this one (e.g. nature of your agreement with him about rent etc.). If his name is on the lease (i.e. the contract is technically between him and the landlord), then he probably has the "upper hand" and can ask you to leave. That is probably a risk of the arrangement you were in.
