Legal Question in Federal Tort Claims in North Carolina

Minister performs own marriage.

Is it legal for an ordained minister (ordained over the Internet) to perform is own marriage? In other words, marry himself to his bride without the presence of another minister.

The marriage was performed with two witness's and is recorded with the State. If it is not legal, how do you get it unrecorded?

Re: Minister performs own marriage.

The only two people who have anything to say about it, as far as getting it "unrecorded" are the couple themselves. It's called divorce or annulment.

However, if there is an ethical issue (which is sounds like there is) and possibility a basis for annulment [although it's hard to argue some sort of fraud when teh other person obviously agreed or didn't contest the whole thing], you can report it to your state. Check in the office where they register marriage certificates.
