Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

My question is: Do I have the financial responsibility to pay for my neighbors medical bills for a fall she took due to my dog running into her. The circumstances are: My neighbor was standing at the end of my driveway (on my property), which is across the street from her house, talking to my mother. My dog went to the end of the driveway and began playing with my neighbors dog. While they were playing my dog ran into my neighbor and caused her to fall. My mother helped her back to her house and I checked on her later that day. She said she was okay but had a sprained ankle and her back hurt. She told me that she was already seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis and would have it checked. She called me two days later and told me the expenses she had incurred thus far and wanted me to reimburse her.
