Legal Question in Health Care Law in North Carolina

Appointment Fees

I received A bill for $200.00 because of two seperate missed appointments the first I called too reschedule, then the second I missed due to being out of work and no medical. I tried to contact and get resolved but was given run around when I asked for an explanation. I think its crazy that they can just charge $100 dollars and never even did anything. but now they sent a notice saying they would refer me to an outside agency for collection. what are my rights and can you please advise.

Re: Appointment Fees

Unless you signed an agreement to be liable for paying for missed appointments, their policy does not create such an agreement. They cannot bill you for doing nothing. If the turn you over to a collection agency, dispute the bill and refuse to pay it.
