Legal Question in Immigration Law in North Carolina

My girlfriend came here legally, but now is in an illegal status, because her employer did not renew her working visa. We now live together and have been together for 2 years. I want to marry her.

Will her being illegal in the state of NC, affect us getting a marriage license?

Thanks,

K

If you marry her, and you are a US citizen, she might be able to adjust status and become a lawful resident.

You will be able to get a marriage license even if she does not have legal status. Since she entered legally, you may apply for her to get her green card if you are a U.S. Citizen. Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation for a marriage-based adjustment case. I am able to work with clients all across the country.
