Legal Question in Intellectual Property in North Carolina

The legalities of 'private label rights'

Hi,

I am looking into a business venture regarding a 'private label rights' membership website (a website that people join in order to get ghostwritten articles that they can legally edit and use any way they'd like) and I need to know how 'private label rights' relate to copyright law.

If someone ghostwrites for a 'private label rights' membership site, does that mean that they give full copyright license of their works to the site owner or site members? Or does a copyright to those works simply never exist in the first place? (like in a 'work for hire' contract?)

I would assume there is no legal copyright involved in any part of the process, especially for the site's members, as it would be hard (ie impossible) for multiple site members to claim copyright to the same work, even with the content slightly altered.

Thankyou in advance for any replies!

Re: The legalities of 'private label rights'

Is there a TOU for the site?

Need to review that + get more info to advise. EVERYTHING is copyrighted unless waived or assigned until it expires.
