Dismissed from work for applying to other jobs

Does a company have the right to fire a worker for applying for other jobs? If

not, what would be the legal action taken to receive compensation?

Yes, North Carolina is a "right to work" state, which means that an employer can fire you for any reason which is not discriminatory.
