Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

Hello

My employeer went through a compensation review (base and bonus target would be combined for a new base) for US based employees (which I am one) and I emailed our US HR Lead asking if I would be eligible for the new compensation structure. I have an email from her confirming a new compensation, and another email from someone on her team with the same confirmation.

Then they said they made a mistake and my role/designation was not eligible.

Since I have emails from the US HR lead saying that "variable will moved to your fixed salary" can I take legal action for the new salary that was rolled out to other employees.

Unfortunately ,probably not. I assume you are in NC. To be able to sue for this, you would have to show there was a contract. Unless there was an explicit contract, you are not entitled legally to any specific pay or type of pay. I would encourage you to speak to an employment law attorney for a review of your documents and a thorough analysis
