Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

Im going to be more in detail of my my issues are with my former landlord. Back in june we had a big thunderstorm and the wind was so strong it sucked out the window and broke the glass and ripped the screen. It took my landlord 2 weeks to get the window fixed. Its a window that you crank open and the whole bar was snapped in half so the entire window needed to be replaced as well as the screen and the landlord knew that. He said it took so long to get it fixed because he had to wait for the insurance company to come out and look at it to give him the money to replace the window. But the only thing that he did was replace the glass piece leaving the screen and bar still broken. So my husband and I knew he probably kept the money and did it the cheap way. So the screen was still torn when we moved out a week ago. Also they supply the washer and dryer which they put in after we moved in and told us to let them know a week before we move out so they can remove the washer and dryer to store them in their storage and also so we can get our funiture out. But when they removed the dryer it tore a hole in the linoleum floor underneath it. One more thing is that a few weeks before we left the light switch stopped working in the bathroom. My husband and I left the place in perfect move in condition besides those three things. But my landlord is extreamely curt and just plain rude with an attitude and doesnt care what I have to say and told me they have the right to charge me 100 dollars an hour to fix these things. I said the light switch we did not do because it is normal wear and tear. And what happened to the insurance money to fix the window that they never did and the washer and dryer we did not move. When I told them about that we are not responsible for those things they got extreamly aggitated and said they dont care , dont want to hear it, the'll do what they want with our deposit. And they will give us whatevers leftover if anything is left over in 30 days. What can I do because it is very wrong what they are doing.

Same advice as before. After the 30 days demand a return of your security deposit. If he doesn't sue in small claims to get it back...look to hire an attorney as you can get attorney fees as well,

Other than that, there is no much here. He sounds like a jerk, but there is no law against that. As for the insurance money...its his money if he used it for different purposes, that's between him and his insurance company.
