Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina

ok

i was in an auto wreck and got an attorney my attorney told me that they were trying to settle but the other company did not want to pay that muck i was not at fault. I went to my attorney and asked him to relaese my files and that i will no longer be needing his services. he told me that he already filed to take my case to court and he said that if i released him now i wouldnt get anything. is this true or is he just trying to get his cut

First, if he meant that he filed a lawsuit, then he should not have done so without your knowledge and consent. Second, whether you recover anything has little to nothing to do with whether you terminate your relationship with this attorney. You can pursue your claim yourself, or with another attorney. You may want to ask him to clarify what he means by this statement. But, it is not true that simply by releasing him you somehow lose your claim. You may want to consult with another attorney and provide him or her with more details.
