Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

My husband and I applied for a home at Terry Pate Home Sales and I was told to put down a deposit. I put down $1500. Then the next day I received a denial letter then was told to come to office and they said I would get another letter and it was approved. So I received letter and initially we thought everything was find. The bottom line is that they will not give me my $9,500 back. They claim they ordered the house already but the bank has denied me and want only my husband to do it alone. He does not. Is there anything I can do.

Did you pay $1,500 or $9,500? You posted different numbers. You will need to get to an attorney ASAP. The documents signed will control here and an attorney needs to review them. Unfortunately, you may have been swindled and they may have the paperwork to back up what they did.
