Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

real estate

We are trying to purchace a home. The seller has known for a month that he needed to finnish the laundry room(it's in the contract) he has not done so and closing is Fri. He never signed the repairs agreement, so my realtor said that we might be able to get our escrow money back and get out of the deal. But we would lose the rest of the money for the inspectors, appraisal, etc. Can we get the seller to reimburse us for these expenses since he has not lived up to his side of the contract, and we can't get the house?

Re: real estate

If the Seller breached the contract, you are certainly entitled to sue him and try to recover the money. You could either consult with a lawyer or try your luck in small claims court if the total amount is less than $5,000

Small Claims Court can be appealed by either side within 10 days of the judgment.
