Legal Question in Social Security Law in North Carolina

reporting inheritance if giving money to children

I am receiving ssi and ssd and am getting an inheritance of 24,000 dollars which I want to give to my 2 sons. Do I have to declare this to Social Security since I am not keeping the money?

Since I don't know your entire picture, I would suggest contacting your asigned case worker for guidance. Generally, you do have to report any assets and have to spend them down in a qualified manner. Best wishes,
