Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Speeding-live out of country-Prayer of Judgement??

I was givin a speeding ticket in Johnston Co. NC -90 in a 65, and told I had to appear in court. My lic. is from VA, but I live in Germany (my husband is active duty military), so I do hold a lic. there as well as my insurance is an international policy. I was here for my grandfather's funneral, and driving my mother's car back from GA where the funneral was. I was told I could come into the DA's office early in order to handle my ticket before the assigned court date on the ticket; can I ask for a Prayer of Judgment? I don't have time to hire an attorny, as I need to clear this up before my plane leaves and I don't want points reported to my insurance company - international policies are already expensive! I do not plan on coming back to the States in the next few years, so I wouldn't worry about getting a second ticket here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...I am hopeing to clear this up Monday!

Thank you for your time!!!

You can ask for a PJC - but you would want to find out how any plea is handled on your international policy.

I would advise hiring an attorney in this case. First, if you hire an attorney, you shouldn't need to appear. 2nd, an attorney in Johnston County may actually be able to get a non-moving violation (alhough I am unsure of what the County will do with such a high speed). Third, it doesn't really take any additional time to hire an attorney - you can probably do it by phone and fax.
