Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Unsigned Traffic Citation

A friend of mine received a speeding citation while traveling through North Carolina from a state trooper. The officer failed to get my friends signature on the citation. Does this mean my friend can legally argue that he never received the citation, as he did not sign it, giving no proof of his acceptance? In other words, can the case be thrown out, or even better, simply ignored?

Should appear or deal w/the ticket

Although I am not licensed North Carolina, the norm is that when the officer provides you w/the Summons/Citation document, it is to put you on notice of the court date, signing it does not mean you are admitting you are guilty, nor is not accepting means you are not guilty. You SHOULD NOT ignore it. If you are licensed in GA, maybe you should give a quick call to an attorney here to find out what your situation is like. If you want an attorney to represent you in court, you will need an attorney who is licensed in N.C.
