If a check was wrote to you from someone selling property a year before their death can you be sued over it after they die?

This has nothing to do with probate. I also don't understand why some who is selling you property would be writing a check. The buyer writes a check to the seller. \\

In answer to your question, if someone has a claim against you and dies, then the estate of the deceased person can absolutely bring suit against Suit in such cases is filed by the personal representative of the estate.

Whether the estate will prevail or not depends on circumstances that you do not relate. Why would you owe money to the decedent?

You can try-reposting your question with more facts, but not in probate. Probate has to do with the disposition of assets of people who are dead.
