Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

I am the executor of my deceased uncle's estate. However, I live a good distance from the county in which the estate will be settled. I will need an attorney to probate the estate due to its complexity. Do I need to hire an attorney where I live (to enhance communication) or an attorney in the county where the estate will be settled.

No, not where you live. You should hire an attorney who practices in the county/state where the decedent lived at the time of his/her death and where the estate will need probated.

If you try and hire some local attorney, while it may be more conveneient for you, the attorney may have to travel to file papers in the county. The attorney is going to charge you for that.

Communication now is not a problem. We have email, fax and phone.

Hire the attorney where the estate is being probated. It will be easiest and more cost effective.
