Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina
My father has a joint will and just passed a few months ago, does his wife need to file the will now or does the will get filed after she passes because it is a joint will?

Because it is a joint will, it gets filed now. The wife is free to make a new will. Assuming that she does not do so, then the joint will would be filed again when the wife passes.
