Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

Once you fill out these documents, do you have to go to a lawyer in your area to get them legalized? If not, could you explain to me what would be the next step of this process and how much money it will cost besides the low cost for the forms that Lawguru charges?

What documents are you talking about? Do you mean in reference to the probate of an estate? Or something else? Probate forms for NC are found online and can be obtained free of charge. I do not know what other forms you are talking about; it may be possible to find free sample forms.

I do not understand what you mean regarding "legalizing" documents. By asking these questions, I assume that you do not have an attorney for the estate (assuming you are talking about probate). You do not take the papers to an attorney. Most attorneys will want to administer the estate for a fee (it is paid out of estate funds ultimately, but the personal representative hires the attorney and gives the attorney a retainer). An attorney will not just want to review papers. If you had an attorney one, he or she would be filling out these forms for you with your assistance.

If you do not have an attorney for whatever reason, then leave the attorney line blank. The documents have to be notarized by either the Clerk of Court or a notary public. Look in the Yellow Pages for a notary in your area. Many UPS or other places (Office Depot or Office Max, for example) may offer notary services.

If you are talking about some other forms, then we need more information from you in order to give you better advice.
