Legal Question in Insurance Law in North Dakota

Insurance coverage for transgendered people

I recently came out as transgendered at the place I work. Since then there has been alot of friction but the biggest issue from it is related to thier health insurance. When I approached them about the insurance plan being anti-transgender, they argued that it was simply a cosmetic issue. The corporate headquarters for my compnay is in Seattle, WA and the insurance is based in Minneapolis, MN which are both places that prohibit this kind of exclusion. Do I have any recourse for this?

Re: Insurance coverage for transgendered people

You don't say where you live and work. It may well be the law of that state. You really should contact an insurance lawyer as federal law may provide the answer because your employee benefit is governed by ERISA.
