My husband is a Canadian citizen. I am a US citizen. I would like to know where to find more information about a QDT and how that might benefit us.

It sounds like you would want to set up a consultation with an estate planning attorney. The NC State Bar website may have a list of attorneys in your areas who are specialists in estate planning. Specialists are certified by the State Bar and some of the qualifications are that they have to devote at least 25% of their practice to the specialty, attend continuing legal education seminars and pass a written exam.
