Legal Question in Disability Law in Ohio

what are her rights

I have a case of a young woman 25yrs old that has a diagnosis of Schizophrenia Paranoid type. This young lady has recently been married against the advise of many treatment professionals as well as family members. This young lady also has been diagnosed with borderline intelectual functioning and it is of concern that she has made a poor choice in her marriage. The more difficult issue is that the family of the man to whom she has married has made it very difficult for anyone to assist the young lady. She has moved the man in with her and has has to this point not assisted her due to his family and their not wanting him to continue the relationship. What I am asking at this point is weather there is anything that can be done to ensure that the financial piece of her care to which is taken care of through our agency due to her needing a payee, and what can if anything to have him pay his share of the living expenses. The parents of the husband assist him in his money but because they do not want the couple together they are refusing to help. What if anything can be done as this young lady is about to lose her home and everything else to which she has worked for several years to obtain. What if anything can be done? Thank you

Re: what are her rights

The real issue is whether she is competent. You could intiate a claim that she is not competent, and then you must prove she cannot legally make her own decisions. If the court finds that she can make her own decisions, then she has that right.
