Dear Inquirer: A records deposition requires the named custodian of records to appear and produce certain records in her/her/its possession, pursuant to the written subpoena. Such depositon is not a "fishing expedition" or hunt and no questions may be asked other than those referring to the actual documents in the possession of the custodian.

Please be certain to have legal counsel present to represent the custoduian and to preclude the unreasonable inquiries that inevitably take place, or try to take place, to the unseasoned custodian.

Good luck!

Sincerely, J. Norman Stark, Cleveland, Ohio
