threat of harm to person
My daughter, age 21, recently moved back home from a growing abusive relationship of 5 months. The ex boyfriend lives 100 miles away. He made several threats and warnings to her while talking with her on a message service via the internet. She saved the conversation and it is also printed out in 7 pages of dialogue. She has asked him and told him to leave her alone. He says no, he wants payback for the breakup. What can she do? He knows where she lives. She won't go to the police.

She must disengage from him completely. So long as she stays in communication with him, he will exercise the same power over her that caused her to leave the relationship. Do not talk, do not respond, do not engage. Then time will take care of things. If she feels physically threatened, then she must take self-defense measures since she won't consult the police.
