Re: Adult Care Facility

Out of curiosity I looked for a statute about that.

Search on: "nursing home license ohio"

whichever law firm in your state pops up, visit their website to see whether they have free information available. If not, there were plenty of links to help you find your way to what other states do. Once you have that information, you can probably find your way to your state agency.

Your main obstacle might be in securing insurance and getting people to trust you. Consideration may be given to what you've done since getting out and whether it indicates that you should be trusted with a vulnerable population.

Another hard question is whether or not you're ethically required to disclose your past to customers and whether you will be able to find employees to make the business a go. You will definitely need good legal counsel, and I suggest retaining counsel before attempting to get your license and making sure you cover the ground needed by the application (for example, if it asks for recommendations, get the most reputable ones you can).

You might also want to become active in the local associations for nursing, talk to them and find out how you can start building a network, so that when it comes time for licensing, you will have som inside information on how to make the best presentation you can.
