Civil Suit

Do I need to respond to the Plantiffs suit against me. My former landlord/boyfriend is suing me of back rent owed to him. I was forced to sign a paper by him. He was on my back constantly. Now that I moved and do not have a physical relationship with him he chose to sue me.

Well, if you don't respond the court will take it as an admission and you'll end up with a judgment against you. If you have a defense, answer it. if you don't have a defense I guess you don't have to answer, but just realize that you'll be considered as admitting everything he alleged in the complaint.
